Be a Heart Hero
That’s the motto that all students got at our opening assembly to kick off Jump Rope for Heart. Students had lots of knowledge about the importance of exercise and healthy eating. Some students even had a challenge to see who could skip the longest while everyone cheered them on.
Leading up to our Friday, April 26th, Jump Rope for Heart day, Grade 5 and 6 students gave us healthy eating and keeping active messages each morning over the intercom. They also counted down the days until we were ready to jump. This was a great way to get everyone excited.
Students had a chance to practice some of their skipping skills in their physical education classes and Friday morning gave everyone a chance to show off what they had been practicing as well as try some new skills. Each VPE family went through many different activity stations that included more than just jumping rope. After all of these stations, we were lucky that one was a snack break in order to give us the fuel to keep on going.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out to help us with our stations on Friday. We couldn’t have done it without you. Also a huge thanks to Mrs. Helland for organizing the event.
We are still totaling the money collected by students but so far together VPE raised over $10 000. In fact we are the top money raisers in all of southern Alberta! Way to go everyone on raising so much money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation!
