Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School

A Green School

Prairieview School was constructed with energy efficiency and environmental design in mind. We are currently working on our Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. With the assistance of Dr. James Love we have posted documents and links that will help you understand some of the design features of our school.

The LEED certicifcation document can be found in the Documents section of our website.

Recycling (Sept. 22, 2008)

To Whom It May Concern:

Recycled materials are taken to the local depot weekly. The typical weekly volume of paper is less than one standard garbage bag. The typical weekly volume of containers is two large garbage bags or less. One reason that the paper volume is small is that each classroom is provided with a blue box for paper. Students are actively encouraged to use this paper for calculations and draft writing. This is just one way that we foster respect for the environment and the responsible use of resources.
